Course Overview
CMSC 10700 is a data structures and programming course, based on C++.
During the course, we will:
- Learn more C++,
- Understand and implement the major Abstract Data Types useful in Computer Science,
- Use the ADTs to solve interesting problems.
Required text:
Carrano & Prichard,
Data Abstraction and Problem Solving with C++: Walls and Mirrors,
3rd Edition,
Addison Wesley, 2002. ISBN 0-201-74119-9.
Grading:
- Homework 45%
- First Test 15%
- Second Test 15%
- Third Test 20%
- Subjective Evaluation 5% (attendance, improvement, ...)
Assignments
You will have a programming assignment every week
on a Wednesday-to-Wednesday schedule, starting Wednesday 31 March.
Make sure you read the homework presentation
and collaboration guidelines.
You can use any system you like to develop and run your C++ programs.
Most of you will probably continue to use either Code Warrior
or g++ under Linux, as you did last quarter.
Exams
- The First Test will be in class on Thursday 15 April 2004.
- The Second Test will be in class on Thursday 6 May 2004.
- The Third test will be in class on Tuesday 1 June 2004.
- There will not be a final exam during exam week.
