Ideal (ISO standard) beats actual (faulty Pentium)

Intel designed its Pentium chip to follow the ISO standards for floating point calculation. Users of the early production of the Pentium discovered that certain divisions were done incorrectly. In spite of initial resistance by Intel, the predominance of the ideal standard over the actual chip forced Intel to offer corrected chips as free replacements for the early shipments of incorrect ones.
