I alotted 20 points per problem, 100 total for the CS221 portion of the exam. A few CS221 students did the CS321 problem. I evaluated the work, and I will give some sort of extra credit at the end. But, I haven't decided the form of the extra credit, and I probably won't do so until the end of the course. I recommend that you give priority to the regular CS221 questions on homework and exams.
I discussed the problems and their solutions in class on Friday 12 November. If there are further questions about problems and solutions, you can bring them up in class.
The CS221 scores were 20, 35, 42, 48, 54, 55, 60, 65x3, 69, 71+0, 72, 73+2, 74, 76, 78+0, 79+13, 81, 82, 84x2, 90, 92, 93, 98 (median 72.5, mean 69.4). The CS321 scores were 86+20, 93+5, 96+15, 97+20 (median 94.5+17.5, mean 93.0+15.0). Scores in the 90s certainly represent A work (but keep in mind that homework is a big part of the final grade). Scores down to 50 are consistent with a C (given reasonable homework performance). Scores below 50 are cause for concern. If the final exam score is higher than the midterm, I will ignore the midterm.
