   Homework guidelines

Homework will be handed out every Wednesday at the end of class, and
will be due the following Wednesday at the beginning of class. All
necessary material should be covered by the end of class on Friday, so
you'll have the whole weekend to work on it.

The first assignment is pretty straight-forward, but it's
essential. As assignments progress, they will become tougher and more
open-ended. I expect you to come to me or the TA with any questions
you have. Don't let things slide until the last minute: both the
midterm and final are cumulative projects that require you to apply
what you've been learning all quarter, and if youÕre not keeping
     up, you'll be screwed.

Each assignment is worth 10 points. The midterm and final are each
worth 25 percent of your grade. Late policy is as follows: no lame
excuses. I expect you to hand in something every Wednesday. If you
start your homework over the weekend, you'll always have Monday and
Tuesday to bombard me with questions about the assignment. If you
still can't figure it out by Wednesday, turn in what you have and
then get some help. Once you've figured out the problem, you can
include an example in your midterm or final project that shows me
you've worked it out. This gives you a second chance to make up for
anything you miss on a regular assignment.

Specifics regarding the format and organization of your homework
will be included with each assignment handout.
